From the Editor:
Yesterday was Father’s Day, in America, as well as in nearly 90 nations throughout the world that have followed the lead of the United States in creating a day to honor fathers. The ‘mother’ of the day to honor fathers, was Sonora Dodd, the daughter of a father who lost his wife, and a dedicated sister who helped her dad raise her five brothers. The history is well worth reading, for many reasons. In this edition, we offer a lot of information packed in our aggregate sections, and we hope readers can take a look at all we provide.
The single holiday of Father’s Day covers a wide gamut of issues that our monthly newsletter is not capable of adequately addressing in one edition. However, we are able to deal with many of the issues regarding good fathers or missing fathers in our ongoing efforts to educate American citizens about the problems when there are so many missing fathers and not enough good dads in our society. There are statistics Stephanie Mann has been putting out for decades. I received startling claims in the form of statistics that screamed to be verified regarding fatherless homes. Sadly, many citizens do not know what they do not know. Some prefer not to know and to ignore the tragedies of our time. That is a tragedy in and of itself.
We ask readers to peel back the dark draperies of ignorance of the two aspects of fatherhood and do their own homework. Readers can also consider the information we have compacted in our newsletter today, not only in Stephanie’s article, but also in our recommended links to videos or articles. There is a link to a radio program that aired on Saturday about a dad who lost a very precious daughter due to a hospital’s protocols. We only recommend it for those strong of heart because it is a modern day tragedy. There is an accompanying news article as well.
Fatherhood is a complex subject, but we touch a number of the issues. Also, we offer a link to another newsletter from our affiliate in the Coalition for a Principled Republic (CPR) that was posted Sunday and focused entirely on Father’s Day – even more features and information. Via the Lightwing Messages edition, readers can also find an article I wrote about Father’s Day with a more spiritual focus but for more serious consideration for such a turbulent and toxic time.

Do Children’s Lives Matter?
By Stephanie Mann
Society is us, not just elected officials. America’s future is in peril because children have been ignored, neglected, and abused as family and neighborhood support has deteriorated. We see the destructive results with many young people lacking a moral foundation which includes the 3 C’s: Courage, Character, and a self-protective Conscience.
Today’s angry youth are looting, setting fires, destroying businesses, and disrespecting police as they intimidate city leaders into ignoring violent behavior. Without consequences, “followers” (youth without an identity) join in with the attitude, “I’m going to get what I want, and I don’t care about anyone else.” Abuse and helicopter parenting create “followers” who lack self-discipline, self-awareness, and self-worth.
Statistics tell us about the plight of American children:
– Cost of child abuse and neglect…$220 Million A DAY! (Source: Preventchildabuse.org)
– Cost of gangs, average age 14…$200 Billion a year! (Source: nationalgangcenter.gov)
– Cost of drug abuse…$1 Trillion a year! (Source: Psychology Today)
– Cost of human trafficking, average age 13…$32 Billion a year! (Source: Human Rights First)
– Cost of youth suicide…$58.4 Billion a year! (Source: Americashealthrankings.org)
We must discuss the high cost to families and taxpayers. So how can we demonstrate that Children’s Lives Matter?
Americans Are Witnessing A Spiritual Crisis
Politicians, community leaders, and citizens must put children first! We don’t allow children to bullying in schools, so why are city leaders allowing bullies to injure 400+ police officers and destroy public and private property without condemning their actions?
Our Founding Fathers understood the power of the human spirit, and without self-discipline, democracy will fade, and dependency will grow. Freedom allows people to thrive and grow strong as they take responsibility for their behavior. If we are going to remain a free society, we must start discussing how to maintain Freedom. We destroy ourselves if we allow public and
private citizens to ignore emotion, pain, and violent behavior.
Over the last 50 years, the family structure gradually broke down. The government warehoused low-income people in socially isolating projects. Religion slipped into the background and disappeared from the conversation at home, in schools, and in the community. “Love thy Neighbor” was replaced with social isolation. We turned neighborhood safety over to the police. Police power grew as neighbors became disconnected and crime increased. Over the years, we overlooked the abuse of power by police and politicians. The big government tried to fix us and sent billions of dollars into cities which fueled corruption!
Police and big government cannot keep children safe. Police react to crime! Connected citizens can prevent crime, gangs, drugs, violent behavior, and the need for a gun culture. “We the People” can empower families and neighborhoods to protect youth.
Freedom Gives Americans The Ability to Achieve Their Dreams.
Democracy thrives through individual determination and initiative. America produced an abundance of inventors, scientists, writers, chemists, musicians, physicists, writers, engineers, and successful businesses. Individual responsibility, family, and community support strengthened Americans.
To restore American values, we need a spiritual awakening!
How many churches, youth groups, and community organizations are in your city? There are 350,000 responsible churches in the US. Let’s encourage them to work together to keep children safe.
Citizen involvement is the key to protecting children. Connected neighbors build trust and become a network of support around children. “It takes a village” to reduce anger toward police and stop the social isolation that leads to violence, racism, drug abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and crime.

We can restore the heart of our cities and set the example of “Love Thy Neighbor,” which will increase religious attendance as we fill the needs of the people. Encourage church and civic volunteers to assist neighborhood families, not proselytizing but bringing neighbors together. The faith community can restore America’s power, block by block.
Responsible religions offer encouragement and help us look within, live our values, and understand that inner power develops self-esteem, self-determination, and self-confidence. Faith
encourages, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and a self-protective conscience can keep us honest, safe, and healthy.
Families and politicians will see the power of God’s love in action. Americans will no longer see government as their savior. Love conquers all and keeps children safe!

Action Items…
From the Editor: In previous editions, we offered an announcement via a “Call to Action” to let our readers know that Safe Kids Now News was on Linkedin. Since that time other readers approached Safe Kids Now to place relevant announcements about important events aligned with our efforts to shed light on the problems that kids, their families, and America’s neighborhoods face in the midst of the confusion today, largely brought about by the toxic rhetoric and propaganda. So, we continue with the action items with this section of the newsletter…
Call to Action: Stephanie Mann will be interviewed by Dennis Jamison of the Citizens Sentinels Network (CSN) and Coalition for a Principled Republic (CPR) as part of the weekly Zoom sessions on Wednesdays.

We Hope You Celebrated Natural Family Month!
We have supported the recent efforts of James Harrison to promote and maintain a month-long awareness or “Celebration of the Family” as a national holiday. This effort had started back on Mother’s Day and wrapped up on Father’s Day.
The pursuit of a Natural Family Celebration is a positive approach to repairing and healing our nation in such a divided time. Mr. Harrison, National Director of Natural Family Strong Natural Family Foundation was the impetus behind this attempt at creating a new holiday in the Ohio region and beyond as a way to celebrate the Family! In concert with other local community leaders, Natural Family Strong proposed earlier this year to make the time period between Mother’s Day through Father’s Day an annual celebration of the Natural Family. At the Citizen Sentinels Network, we believed in the effort and wholeheartedly – totally supported it. And, if one didn’t get involved this year, there’s always next year! Those who would like to get involved next year, or to get more information on the effort, please call 614-890-4008 for more details and please don’t hesitate to leave any encouraging messages.

REMINDER – COMING SOON: A book for preteens and teenagers
Magical YOU! Empowering Teens to stay Safe and Healthy in an Unsafe World.
This book is an inner journey to help teens stay safe and healthy no matter what has happened in their
life. I was a victim of abuse in my home, abandoned in Mexico City at age 15, and didn’t speak the language. I learned how to survive and thrive; teens can do it too.
